"Convenient Store"

Teanaway Gets the Store Back!!
Opened April 6, 2005
Welcome to Teanaway Mercantile. I am here to tell you a wonderful story! Some may even refer to it as a real life fairy tale. I like to think of it as my life. I live about 15 miles out of the cute little town of Cle Elum, Washington. Created in 1968, I've changed hands and faces a few times. In 2000 I lost my owner to cancer, and her children closed the doors to what seemed to be forever! I was lost. The "grandfather" zoning was gone, and there was rumor that I would never be a store again. How sad for me, all my neighbors and visitors. Vickie drove a school bus in Cle Elum, and would drive by me everyday on her way to and from work. She wanted me to be hers long ago, but I never knew it!  Soon, she visited me. Not once, but lots of times! I heard her talk of rezoning, and reopening me!! The store! I would get visitors again!  Almost two years went by, there was lots of activity, and I was starting to feel pretty good. Soon, it was true! I had a true makeover, and new product! Ready for the children to come once again for candy and icecream! My new owners are Bill and Vickie Scribner (of course they have adult children Jennifer, Shay, Brett and Valerie. Duffy the kitty is usually in his basket, Mona (black lab) and Daisy (Shepherd) are normally sleeping nearby. Along with the people, the animals are friendly. The grandchildren Brayden, Dom, and Elijah are sometimes there, too. Come in and join the family.

I've come a long way in three years, and I hope you will come visit!

How to get here from "there".

Going East or West on I-90, take the "Wenatchee/Cle Elum Exit 85". Follow signs to Wenatchee. About 6 miles, you will go over the Teanaway River, and the next left will be Teanaway Road. Turn left on Teanaway Road, and go 6.5 miles. The store will be on your right. It is a beautiful drive, so don't forget your camera! Oh, that's right, I have cameras!! From Wenatchee, follow signs to Cle Elum and turn right on Teanaway Road.

Some people have detoured to the store to buy a pop or candy bar just to show support of us being here! For that, I thank you!

"Some National Parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations," reports George Carlin. "When you have to wait a year to sleep by a tree, something is wrong."

With the rise in gas prices, this is the best place to camp. It is close to Seattle, and easy to get to. The weather is 98% clear in the summer!
